Osteopathy - A Gentle Path to Healing and Balance
Osteopathy is a holistic form of manual therapy that supports your body’s natural ability to heal and self-regulate. By treating the body as an interconnected whole, osteopathy focuses on restoring balance and optimal function throughout your tissues, muscles, joints, and organs.
The primary goal of osteopathic treatment is to remove restrictions in your body’s tissues, allowing for improved flow of blood, nerve signals, and lymphatic fluids. This helps the body regain its natural state of health and vitality.
Osteopathy can effectively address a wide range of issues, including:
Joint stiffness and discomfort
Muscle aches and tension
Postural strain and imbalances
Digestive issues
Circulatory problems
Sleep disturbances
Stress and anxiety
With osteopathic care, you can experience relief from both structural and systemic conditions, empowering your body to function at its best.

About Me
When a good friend and colleague asked me to be a "practice body" for his studies in Osteopathic Manual Therapy, I had never heard of osteopathy before. At the time, I was teaching yoga all over Toronto, but immediately,
I connected with the deep reverence for nature and trust in the body that forms the core of this health philosophy.
A few years later, driven by a desire to expand my knowledge and skill set, I decided to embark on the rigorous 4-year program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.
Armed with a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology, I now use a variety of therapeutic tools to help your body move more freely—and, as a result, help you feel better. My treatments are designed to support and liberate your body's natural self-healing abilities.
By gently realigning your body’s structures, we create a foundation for health that allows nature to guide you toward optimal function.
My goal is to help you overcome pain and discomfort so you can fully engage in life—free to be the best version of yourself for your family, friends, and community. I look forward to working with you!

FAQ

Osteopathy is a completely natural health philosophy that was founded in the 1870s by Andrew Taylor Still in the midwest United States. After being gravely disappointed with the medical profession at the time, Still turned to nature for answers instead. He studied the intricate design of natural systems and the perfection to which the human body can function under the right conditions - those conditions being that in which all of the blood, nerve and lymphatic fluids in the body can flow without impediment. By improving these conditions, osteopathic manual therapy gets you closer to your ‘default’ setting - health.
Osteopathy is based on the principle that all dysfunction and disease in the body is due to a structural imbalance and/or restriction of motion and flow in the body. Treatments consider the interconnectedness of all the different layers of tissues in your body including the muscles, ligaments, fascia, bones, nerves, blood vessels and more. By liberating these tissues of any restrictions, the self healing and self regulating capabilities of the body take over and nature does the rest.

Each treatment is unique for each individual and each appointment. They typically last about 20-30 minutes depending on the needs that particular day. They begin with a health history review or update and a structural assessment followed by application of manual therapeutic treatment which can include the use of various tools like myofascial release and post isometric relaxation.
You stay fully clothed the whole time and may be put into a variety of positions like lying on your back, stomach or side on a comfortably padded table. Expect some gentle usage of your arms and legs to direct forces to different areas in these positions. Many people find treatment incredibly soothing and calming.

You stay fully clothed for treatments. Loose fitting or stretchy clothing is best - something that allows you to move easily and be comfortable.

While some people will feel benefits immediately after treatment, others may experience short term discomfort. Your body undergoes changes that will impact overall posture and usually takes 2-3 days post-treatment to integrate the adjustments. A degree of soreness like you’ve had a workout is common at this time and strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are not recommended.
